FAQ
Questions people ask before they call
Straight answers about estimates, pricing, timing and what we do.
Are estimates free?
Yes. The on-site walk-through and written estimate are free. Texting a few photos first helps Larry come prepared and sometimes saves a trip.
How much will my job cost?
Every job is priced after Larry sees it, because prep, repairs, access and materials change the number. For a starting point, the ballpark tool on this site gives a typical range in about 30 seconds. Your real price goes on paper before any work starts.
Is the written price the final price?
The price on paper is the price you pay. If you add work along the way, it gets written up and agreed on before it's done.
What areas do you serve?
Chicago, especially the West Side (Austin, Galewood, Garfield Park, Humboldt Park, Belmont Cragin, Montclare), plus Oak Park, Forest Park, River Forest, Elmwood Park, Cicero, Berwyn, Maywood, Bellwood, Broadview, Westchester, Melrose Park, Hillside, the Riversides, Brookfield, the La Granges, Norridge and Harwood Heights. If you're close by, call and ask.
Who will I be dealing with?
Larry Nelson, the owner. He walks the estimate, runs the job and does the final walk-through with you. Same phone number from start to finish: (773) 886-5612.
Do you take small jobs?
Yes. Patching drywall, hanging a microwave, fixing a door or knocking out a punch list are all part of the work. Small jobs are usually priced as a two-hour block or by the hour.
How soon can you start?
It depends on the schedule that week and the size of the job. Larry will give you a start date and how long the job should take when he writes up your estimate.
Do I need to be home?
For the walk-through, yes, or you can leave a key or lockbox code. During the work, most customers don't need to be there once the plan is set.
Do you repair water-damaged ceilings and drywall?
Yes. We cut out damaged drywall back to solid material, put in new board, then tape, skim-coat and sand until the repair blends in. Fix the leak first; we can tell you what we see when we open it up.
Do you build and replace fences?
Yes: wood privacy fences in pressure-treated pine or cedar, including tearing out the old fence, setting panels, gates and cutting posts to a clean line.
Do you work with landlords and property managers?
Yes. Unit turnovers, paint-outs, floors and punch lists between tenants are a big part of the business, and managers get a private portal with status and photos for every unit.
How do I get a quote fastest?
Text photos of the job to (773) 886-5612 with your address or neighborhood. Or use the estimate form on this site, which lets you attach up to six photos.
